SEQUEL TO ACCIDENT.
CHARGE OF NEGLIGENT DRIVINGINFORMATION DISMISSED. A charge of having negligently driven a car, preferred by the police against John Harding, which had partially occupied the time of the Court at previous sitting's, reached its conclusion to-day, when the defendant for whom Mr J.. Strang appeared, wont into the box on his own behalf. The charge was the outcome of an' accident which occurred on March 24, when a lorry driven by Harding and a bicycle ridden by a man named Quinn came into collision near the in-* tersection of Grey and Bridge Streets, The consequences to Quinn were most unfortunate as he sustained a fracturg of the left thigh, was several weeks in hospital, and is still unfit for work-
After hearing the evidence given for the prosecution and the defence Mr H. A. Young. S.M., held that thi3 failed to establish that defendant was driving in a negligent or impropeii manner, and went to show that Quint* when making the turn had not care-! fully observed where he was goingv and had run into the lorry. Tha information against Harding mustj therefore be dismissed. ;
