FRANKTON EFFLUENT.
DEALING WITH THE NUISANCE, i
Referring to that part' of the recent effluent loan proposal which was not carried, Cr. O. R. Farrer, speaking at last night's meeting of the Hamilton Council, said he thought the chief reason for its defeat was that the ratepayers were somewhat hazy as to tfie Council's ability to make the companies affected pay their share. The Council was, however, on perfectly safe grounds, and he was very sorry the loan was not carried. Under the circumstances he moved that the Council try and come to some tentative arrangement with the two companies to deal with the effluent, and if this was not, satisfactory to again bring forward the loan proposal at the. earliest opportunity. The motion was carried.
