HAWKE CUP GAME. TEAM TO PRACTICE. The team to represent South Auckland against Wanganui on December 26 —27, at Wanganui, will be finally selected from the following players:— N. Winger, R. Winger, N. Thomas, J. B. Pomeroy, M. Gilmore, E>r. Hockin, W. Mcnzics, E. Hughes, E. Lenti'er, L. Morgan, M. Barnett, F. Hawke, Sandel, A. Taylor. Special practices on Wed' nesdays. Any players unable to make the trip are asked to notify the selector at once. Extraordinary consistency with the bat has been shown this season by Driscoll (Marist Club, Invercargill). So l'ar he has batted six times, scoring a total of 030 runs, an average of it)6 per innings. He has made three centuries. Mr Kortland, the well-known cricketer, who has been negotiating for a visit from a team of American baseball players, has received word ■ that the New York Giants, an exchampion team, will mae a trip to Australia and New Zealand at the end of next year. The visitors ask for per cent, of the takings, but slate that they do not expect to make a profit on the tour, and are prepared to bear some loss in order to give demonstrations of the game as it should be played.
