GENERAL ATHLETICS.
The annual meeting of the Hamilton East Cricket Club will be held on Monday evening in Everybody’s Buildings. The club had a very successful past season, and the prospects for the new term are decidedly bright. The great Warrnamhool to Melbourne Road Race, entries for which close to-night, is to be run on October 27, as is also the Victorian 100 miles Amateur Road Race. The prizes for t.he former total £4 60, and for the lalter trophies to the value of £l2O. It is to be hoped that some entries will be received from riders In the Dominion, for last year- three who competed in the big Warrnamhoolevent, Hill, Wright and O’Shea, were all successful. Hill obtained first place, Wright third place, and O’Shea fastest time. All will admit that this weis a very fine performance, and it is to be hoped that several N.Z. riders will make the trip across this year, and bring back some of the spoils.
