FREEZING WORKERS.

DISPUTES CLAUSE OPPOSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Friday. When the Auckland freezing works dispute was before the Arbitration Court, bis Honor Mr Justice Frazer presiding, the union opposed the inclusion of the disputes clause. Mr Anderson, of Wellington, who appeared for the employers, asked that the award be made in terms of the recommendation of the Conciliation Council with small machinery alteration. He was surprised at llie request made by the union. . His Honor said that both sides were satisfied that the Disputes Committee had its uses, and did something which the courts could not do .without a tremendous lot of work in altering an award. If either side 'should try to stonewall or make an unfair use of the committee then that side would sooner or later lose the benefit of having ft, for it was not intended to be abused. His personal view was that the disputes clause had better be retained, but the Court was considering the -matter before giving its decision.
