PRICES TOO HIGH.
ESTIMATES AND TENDERS A GREAT DISCREPANCY.
By Telegraph.—Press Association WELLINGTON, Friday.
The Wellington Hospital Board opened tenders for the nurses’ new home, but referred them back to the finance committee as all were so far above the architect's estimate that they could not be'entertained. . The estimate was £14,500 and the lowest lender was £18,956 -and the highest £26,256. The chairman said that since the estimate was made there had been changes in the plans and the prices of some materials had risen considerably.
It will be necessary to resubmit the matter to the department.
