Mr Sharp reported on condition of grounds and a general discussion on improved pipe and sump drainage occurred. Action was deferred pending inquiries. The teacher’s monthly report was received and it was decided to ask Mr A. Adams to effect repairs to desk seats. Mr Gillingham was authorised to write to the Education Board to ascertain if a subsidy would be available for the putting in order of the organ lately donated to the schol. Mr W. A. Dixon, secretary, primary school committees’ association, advised the discussion of following remits: “That an increase in the schools capitation grants is necessary, as the present grants are inadequate. (Remit of Ponsonby School Committee). "That the average roll number and not the average attendance should be the basis of payment of teachers.’’ (Otahuhu School Committee). Entertainment. The Walton public was given a rare treat on Tuesday evening when Mr R. Robertson’s concert party entertained with songs, dances, recitations, monologues, etc. The cast included Mrs Travers, Master Ted Travers, Miss Worthington (danseuse), Miss Isherwood (soloist), and Messrs Henry and Robertson. The versatility of Mr Robertson was strikingly exemplified in his imitations of the first gramophone, a child pressed to sing, lady soprano, Irish brogue, etc. Each member of the party received flattering plaudits and an enjoyable and profitable evening was spent.
