TAUHEI.
Copper Trail. The cast end gave a most successful concert in aid of their funds on Die niglil of May 16lh. Mr Brown, the hall president, presided at the concert. The hall was well filled. Mesdames Haycock (violin) and Holland (piano) gave several selections in good style. Miss Myra Ross, of Hamilton, delighted the audience with her songs and her rendering of “Coinin’ Thro’ the Bye,” brought down the house. Mr Hastie gave several recitations. Mr Robinson, of Morrinsville, supplied the comic element, and his items were well received. Miss Jackson (Morrinsville) sang several songs in a pleasing manner. Miss D. Worthington gave two very nice exhibitions of fancy dancing. Miss Noble gave two songs in good style and her rendering of “The Cuckoo” was greatly appreciated. Mrs Cotringham, of Morrinsville, who played most of the accompaniments, proved herself an accomplished pianist. Mr J. Cowell’s rendering of “Silver Threads Among the . Gold” on the clarionet pleased his audience. Mr Fu'lljames gave a dramatic recitation in good style. The concert ended by singing the National Anthem.” Mr Brown and Mr Noble thanked the performers for the splendid programme they had put before Tauhei and the audience responded by singing “They arc Jolly Good Fellows.” A dance after the concert was well patronized and kept going till early morning. Football. Tauhei (west end) is taking the football match in earnest and had a very good practice on Saturday last and I believe the team has gone into strict training.
