CHARGES OF BOOKMAKING
HEAVY FINES INFLICTED. BOOKMAKER'S BIG TAKINGS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association). WE ISLINGTON, Thursday. George Alexander Brown, apprehended with two others in a raid yesterday, was charged with using a building occupied by him as a common gaining house. The police staled that in nine days alHer ,the Christchurch races his takings were £7OO. For the Ashhurst meeting yesterday lie took £3l 5s by 11 a.m. Ho was lined £4O two months ago. He pleaded guilty, and was fined £75. John Peter Donnelly and .1. Patrick, hairdressers, the other two arrested, were fined £lO.
