THE VICTORIA MART.
J. W. BELZ.
There is a fascination about secondhand shops which appeals to a very large section of the community, and many people wander aimlessly into one with no particular object in view and inspect the contents. Frequently it happens that a long-desired article meets the eye, and joy is brought lo the heart of the visitor. The larger the stock the better the opportunity of securing a bargain. Recognising thq need for such a shop in Hamilton, Mr. y. W. Bclz, a well-known local taxicar proprietor, who had had a number of years’ experience with second-hand goods in Napier, recently ' established the Victoria Mart, in Victoria Street, near the railway station. During the few months he has been open he has secured a comprehensive stock of sec-ond-hand furniture and other articles, and those in search of bargains arc certain to find what they require among the miscellaneous . assortment so attractively displayed. This shop is the largest of its kind in Hamilton, but Mr. Belz’s reputation for paying good prices has resulted in such a rush of sellers of various articles that he has had to consider the advisability of securing larger premises, i A very extensive trade is done here, and visitors from far and near not only come to buy, but also to sell to the best advantage articles for which Iney have no further use. At the present time there are in stock some very fine suites of furniture in oak and rimu, pictures, linoleum, meat safes, prams, gramaphones, and a host of things too numerous to mention. In addition to the second-hand business, Mr. Bclz also does a very large trade in new furniture and bedding. He lias some very handsome dining and bedroom suites and new bedding of all sorts and sizes. As with the second-hand articles, these lines have all been bought in the best markets, consequently he is able to sell at prices considerably below those charged elsewhere. Mr. Belz’s taxi-car business is now carried on by his son, and orders left at the Victoria Mart for smart, comfortable cars will always receive prompt attention at any hour of the day or night. Any train will be met and customers can depend upon their orders being punctually attended 10. .Visitors to Hamilton during Show Week should make a special point of paying a visit to the Victoria .Mart, where Mr. Betz will be only too pleased to show them round or make an offer for anything the visUor may require to buy. ’Phones 2935, private 1223. 589
