" The Master of the Rolls, Dublin, the application of habeas corpus in the case of Childers and eight other prisoners. LONDON, November 20.
A desperate legal battle is in progress to save the life of Erskine Childers and eight other Irish rebel prisoners. Messrs Lynch, Comyn, and Magure, Childers’ three counsel, motored to the Master of the Rolls in Dublin directly Childers’ trial by a Military Court had concluded, and applied for a conditional writ of habeas corpus. The Master of the Rolls gav e liberty for an application before himself on Tuesday, and the Adjutant-General was -ordered “to produce the bodies" of Childers and the eight other men. The barrister's later motored to 1 the offices of the Provisional Government and tried to telephone to Mr W. P. Cosgrave, President of the Executive, who would not grant them an interview. The barristers then served the documents upon a minor official.'
