PUBLIC OPINION
As expressed by correspondents, whose letters are welcome, but for whose views we have no responsibility. UNLIGHTED LAMPS. (To the Editor). Sir. —I should esteem it a favour to be allowed to call the attention of our ■‘leading lights” to the fact 'nat some of our Claudelands street lamps are badly needing attention. I think it is admitted that in Grey Street, where the last fatal accident occurred, is a very dangerous point on that road. There is actually a lamp at the very spot, but alas, there is no light. I can positively assert that for a week at least it has not been lit. I go further and slate that on an average during some months it lias not been lit half Hie lime. At the time of writing you, 0 p.m., Sunday evening, I notice another lamp at a three-cross street, defunct. I would ask, arc we paying, as in some boroughs, at per lamp per vear, or is il bv meter?. —I am. etc.. “LET THERE BE LIGHT,”
