The police and settlers searched yesterday afternoon for Anderson, i wanted in connection with the shooting of Telfer at Lofl Bros.' farm at Tokorima. He was located in the bush, but was not captured at live i o'clock, though some of the search party had ! fired at him. Heavy rain made the searchers' task : worse. due accounl says that when Ander- ; son called at Lofts' house a man named i Morris, who was installing a milking j plant, on the farm, was present, also I Loft's wife and children. When the shot was fired Mrs Loft ' got under the table with the children for safety. Telfer pushed the rifle aside as it was fired, and received a bullet in the heart. .lames Edward Loft, one of the ■brothers, who arrived in Taumarunui late last night, having ridden a horse ! from Aukopae, in a statement In the ! police said William Anderson worked i for him for four months, and left of j his own accord a week ago.
