THE LONDON MARKETS,, J NEW MEAT PRICES FIXED. Tlic Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated May 15, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London; — Meal.—From May 17 the following wholesale prices have been fixed for New Zealand mutton: —Mutton; Cut ewes, 7d lb; uncut ewes, 8d II); cut wethers and legs, 8d lb: uncut wethers and. tegs, ild. Australian, Jd alb less, except for uncut wethers and tegs, which remain at l)d. Lamb: No change iii price, Is Id; retail prices free from control. Blitter: The average price for English butter is 3s ‘J i«l lb; Irish creamery, IMG 10s per cwl; factory, 115 per cwt. The Ministry of Food announces that Nn view of the lower prices and the increasing supplies, rationing will be abolished on May 30, but the present maximum wholesale and retail fixed prices for Government controlled butter will remain in force. Hemp.—The Manila market is quiet, and prices arc slightly weaker, hut at the close moderate business w'as done at a decline. Present quotations for ■M" grade arc;—.January-March shipment. £GG; Fcbruary-April and MarchMay shipments, £65, sellers, AprilJune to ,luly-Scptember shipments sold at £65. 'Plie New Zealand market is inactive, and easier., Sellers' closing quotations were: —High points, spot £SO. February-April shipment £34 and £32 respectively. Honey.—No change since last report.
