The Income Tax office, housed in the Scottish Provident Building in Belfast, was raided by masked men. Clerks, who were working overtime, were overpowered and bound. The raiders emptied the shelves and desks, piled the income-tax documents on the floor, where they were saturated with petrol and set on fire. The raiders then decamped, no arrests being effected. The police barracks at Carrigar-d, in Donegal and Kolleter 111 Tyrone, were 'destroyed. Masked raiders who held up clerks in the'Belfast Income Tax Office destroyed all papers, but the fire brigade saved the building. The' Customs Office at Bantry was completely destroyed after the books and documents had been piled in a bonfire. Similar outrages were perpetrated at the Old Age Pensions Office at Newton Stewart, tlie Income Tax Office in Londonderry and the Inland Revenue Office at Ennis- ■ • killen. A mail train was raided at Middleton and the constabulary mail captured. A CLERGYMAN SHOT. (Reuter's Telegrams.) Received May 14. 8.50 p.m. LONDON, May 13. The Irish outrages include the burning of the police barracks in the suburbs of Cork. Explosives were used to complete the destruction. Rev. Wilkinson, canon of the Down Cathedral, was the clergyman shot in the thigh while endeavouring to stop the raid on the Downpatrick office.
