MUNICIPAL ELECTION.

A public meeting will be held in the Town Hall, Hamilton, on Monday night, at 8 o'clock. The speakers will be Messrs .1. It. Fow, W. F. Mason, F. A. Snell, J. K Tidd and W Oruar. Mr J. A. Young, M.P., will occupy ;he chair. Last night the ex-Mayor (Mr P. if. Watts) and ex-Councillors (-Messrs, J. McKinhon, S. Tombs, 11. IS. Tristram, T. F. .lolly and W. K Burrow held a meeting at the Whitiora Bowling Pavilion. The attendance was not large, owing no doubt to its being the late business night. Mr .1. T. Browne presided. The candidates spoke on the lines of their previous addresses, an I at the close were accorded a vote of thanks and conlldence. ENTERTAINMENTS. THEATRE ROYAL. The diflculty in connection with the non-arrival of films from Gisborne, referred to on our advertlsment page, wis overcome, and the picture,' "The Hornet's Nest" came to hand this afternoon, and will positively be shown to-night. That great public favourite, liarlc Williams, who, with Yola Vale as his leading lady, will be seen in his latest success, "The Hornet's Nest," whjch reproduces the story of Mrs Wilson Woodrow's widely-read book —a novel or gripping dramatic intensity. "A big comedy in two reels and other good subjects will also be shown, in addition to the eighth episode of "The Lightning Raider." KING'S THEATRE. Sessue Hayakawa. the Japanese actor, wlresu striking personality and unquestionable dramatic powers make him a great favourite with the public and an unfailing draw, stars to-night in "The Temple of Dusk," described as a particularly good picture story, in which the yellow man shoulders a white man's burden, and discloses great nobility of character and capacity for self-sacrifice, Included in « capital list of subjects are a new and laughable comedy, a charming scene series, and an interesting Pathc Gazette.
