DAY BY DAY.

The Waikato Winter Show Association is to be warmly Bright Outlook congratulated upon for the large measure Winter Show. of support accorded it by the business people generally in contributions to the prize fund. It has been somewhat of a reproach in former years that the tradespeople of Hamilton and district did not recognise their indebtedness to the Association in a tangible manner, and last year we were moved to comment upon the fact. We then pointed out that Hamilton benefited much from the operations of the Association, for there can be no doubt that it is the means of bringing much business to the town, as well as providing an excellent advertisement for the district. What the Winter Show has accomplished in the last-named direction would be difficult to compute, and the whole district is undoubtedly its debtor; *t>ut all classes of trades folk derive pecuniary gain from the great stream of visitors to the exhibition, and for that reason the Association has an undeni* able claim upon their generosity. This year that claim has been recognised and honoured, as a glance through the list published will indicate, and we are inclined to think that the reason similar results were not attained in previous years was not lack of liberality on the part of the business people, but rather that they were not canvassed so thoroughly. ' We warmly congratulate the Association upon the fact that this year its prize money will aggregate about £ISOO, of which some £9OO has been contributed either as donations to the fund or as special prizes. The success of this year's show is, therefore, assured. It is confidently predicted, indeed, that it will eclipse all previous gatherings from every possible standpoint.
