HOSPITAL BOARD’S LEVY
WAIPA COUNTY’S ALLOCATION. At Tuesday’s meeting of. Hie Waipc County Council Hie Waikato Hospital Hoard intimated that the County’s allocation for 1920-21 would be £2859 l is Bd. 'l'iie, reading of Hie amount was received with a chorus of protest, members characterising it is most unfair, pointing out.that those who benefited the. least by the institution paid Hie most, and that Hie roads of Hie County were being starved owing to the increasing demands of the Hospital Board. The County’s present allocation is more than double that of Hie previous year. Coming upon Ibis bombsbill the following resolution forwarded by the Tuapcka. County Council received the hearty and unanimous support of the Council: “That the present system of imposing a levy on local bodies for the purpose of providing revenue (or hospital and charitable aid purposes is inequitable and unduly (axes the holders of rural properties, and that Hie Government be urged lo amend the Act in the direction of making the cost of such institutions a charge on Hie Consolidated Fund of the Dominion."
