Mr Anderson was horn at Baekereek, Bendigo, Victoria, in 1800 and came to New Zealand with ids parents in 1802, when they settled in Otago. Me was educated at Lawrence Grammar School, and in Ids early years' followed the printing trade, hut during the past 20 years lias been engaged as a journalist. He was one of the founders of the Canterbury Typographical Union. He was elected as member for Mataura as. a Reform supporter in 1908, and has hold tiie seat since. He has always taken a great interest in education and was for some time a member of the Southland Education Board and the Dunedin School Committees’ Association.
