AIR JOHNSTONE'S CANDIDATURE. Mr Campbell Johnstone, the LiberalLabour candidate tor Raglan, addressed successful meetings at : Rotokauri, Te Kowhai, and Tamahere last; week, receiving a very good hearing. Last night he spoke at Fairfield, where he received a unanimous vote of thanks and confidence. To-night Air Johnstone will address the electors at "Whatawhata. ROTORUA SEAT. . MEETINGS AT MAMAKU. Mr Hockly gave an address in the Assembly Hall on Friday night. A hearty vote of thanks and confidence for Reform was carried at the close .of the meeting. REFORM CANDIDATE'S CAMPAIGN
(Bv Telegraph.—Press Association.) OPOTIKI, Tuesday.
Mr K. S. Williams, Independent Government candidate, addressed' a very large meeting last night and had a cordial reception. The candidate urged the development of idle lands with a view to increased production to meet the financial burden. He made a stirring appeal for better educational facilities for the children of backblocks parents, and also urged the need of more nursing and maternity homes for the backblocks. Dealing with the settlement of soldiers on bush land he advocated employing gangs of exsoldiers to fell large blocks, cutting them up when grassed and roaded so that the men would have an immediate return. After answering numerous questions the candidate was accorded a vote of thanks unanimously, with prolonged applause and choers_
THE ROTORUA CONTEST
TAUPO, Tuesday
Mr V. Hockly, Government candidate, is meeting with a good reception in the Rotorua and Taupo districts, unanimous votes of thanks and confidence being carried at all his meetings. The candidate is assured of strong support in all these districts.
