DISFRANCHISED SOLDIERS
STATEMENT BY MINISTER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.] WELLINGTON, Monday. The Acting-Prime Minister. Sir .James Allen, states that as the Government has made every possible provision to enable soldiers and discharged soldiers to vote at the licensing poll it is difficult to fathom the reason for the agitation arising, from Jhe statement that certain discharged soldiers will be unable to vote. He flias been unable to obtain any definite information of soldiers who are dis'lranchised. “ I think returned soldiers and the rpublio have sufficient insight 10 -realise the object of the agitation,” he ..said. <” There is a very important .question to decide-on April 10, and ’•those on either side who are actively 'lighting the battle for their own factions are determined to lose no opportunity of enlisting sympathy to secure votes."
