Herr Scheidemann attempted to address his constituents at Solingen in defence of the Majority Socialists' policy. Lieutenant Hews Perris, the only Bon of Mr George Perris, the war correspondent, was killed in a collision with another aviator in the air. GOVERNMENT OF FINLAND. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) COPENHAGEN, July 21. A Bid establishing a monarchy in Finland on the Prussian model has been withdrawn, failing to secure the statutory majority in the Diet, although the Government is preventing many of the Socialist members from attending. THE MALVY TRIAL. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) PARIS, July 21. As the result of evidence at the Malvy trial, an inquiry has been opened into the conduct of M. Maunourg, Chief of Police, on a charge of trading with the enemy. BULGARIAN RAIDS REPULSED. {Australian and N.Z. anfi Reuter.) Received Julv 22, 12.5 p.m. LONDON', July 21. A French Eastern communique states that the enemy at the Cerna Bend attempted several raids on the Italian positions, but they were brilliantly repulsed, and the Bulgarian lost heavily.
