The Army and Navy Appropriation Bill for over £500,000,000 was passed by 362 to one. The only voter against was Mr Meyer, a Socialist. FRENCH APPEAL FOR AID. SKILLED RAILWAY WORKERS WANTED. Prance has appealed to the United States for 10,000 skilled railway men to lay 1500 miles of railways immediately. ~ LOAN TO ITALY. £20,000,000 ADVANCED BY AMERICA. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) Received Mav 4, 12.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, May 3. The Italian Ambassador has received a Treasury warrant for £20,000,000, being Italy's share in the war loan.
