HAMILTON GOLF CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. Mr K. B. Heywood presided over the annual meeting of the Hamilton Golf Club on Wednesday evening, when 30 members were present. The annual report congratulated members on the interest shown in the nasi season, despite the unfavourable circumstances for sport in general due to the war, and which had directly affected the membership through enlislmenls. Thirteen members are' at present on active service, and one, Mr Fred Hunter, had given his life in the service of Irs King. This had in turn affected the financial position of the club, and the presenl subscription would not he sufficient to meet estimated expenses. A motion would be submitted to increase the subscription lYom £3 :5s to £3 las. and the ladies' subscription from £1 is to £1 10s, which would bring in anolber £OO. It was hoped to revert to the former subscriptions after the war, but the committee felt that members would consider il a privilege to "keep the home fires burning" for the benefit of those who, they hoped, would shortly return. In common with other clubs, no inter-club matches were played, and all competitions were for patriotic purposes. During the year many visitors had played on the links, including such prominent players as Messrs A. and K. Duncan, Lusk and Colbeck, the general opinion being that they were the best golf course in New Zealand. Green fees amounted to £25. Pleasure was expressed at the completion of the exchange of the grounds to the Domain Board, with whom a lease for 21 years had been arranged. The balance-sheet showed receipts £2i3 8s 2d and expenditure £239 14s id.—The report and balance-sheet were adopted.
It was decided that the subscription be fixed at £3 I.ls for playing members other than country members, and £1 Is each for honorary members and members under 21 years of age. The following officers were elected: President, Mr K. B. Heywood: vicepresidents, Messrs F. Seifert, H. T. Gillies, G. F. Bond, \Y. tl. Worsley, and K. .1. Stewart; committee, Messrs Bell, Goulthard, Winter and Gresham: captain, Mr 11. T. Giilies; treasurer, Mr G. F. Bond.
