FARMERS' CO-OPERATION

A BIG FEDERATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association. W'KLLINT.Ti IN, Thursday. A conference representing the various farmers' co-operative associations of New Zealand was held in Wellington this week to finally fix the details for the formation of the Farmers' Cooperative Wholesale Federation of New Zealand, Ltd. It has l>een decided to register the company immediately, the nominal capital being fixed at present at £IOO,OOO, while the aggregate nominal capital of the subscribing associations is nearly £3,000,000. With regard to the capital, it is not the idea of the controlling board of the general associations that the Federation itself should embark upon ventures involving large capital responsibilities, but rather that it should become the medium of concerted action. The Federation is to be confined to genuine Farmers' Cooperative. Associations and companies in which the majority of their members are farmers actually engaged directly or in any subsidiary branch of farming or in any industry allied thereto. It has been decided to conline the initial work to such activities as will most effectively assist the shareholder associations and companies in their major operations, both in regard to imports and exports. The Federation will also collect commercial data of all kinds concerning British and other markets and secure and manage in the Dominion British and foreign agencies of lines of interest to the various associations.
