"GO-SLOW" POLICY.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—The following is a letter that I have just received from the wife of one of the. Huntly miners. I ask you to publish it in the interests of the community as a whole. It exemplifies the indirect results of the "go-slow policy" as far as it affects the family of the average wage-earner, the retail shopkeeper, and other people throughout the Dominion: "Dear Sir, —I write to ask you to reconsider the letter sent me on March 20th and kindly allow us longer to make up the arrears of payment. I can assure you that we have no intention of defrauding you. lam just over my confinement and the expenses connected with it. Since then I have been laid up with rheumatism, and the children are all sick. In addition to these troubles my husband has been victimised by officials and truckers in the mine, who would not remove the coal, or allow him to earn his usual pay. These men have now been arrested by the Government, and the miners hope to be able to work full time, having every expectation to pay up our arrears regularly and as soon as possible. The delay has not been our fault, and has worried us very much. Trusting that you will give us a fair chance, as the "go-slow" policy was no wish of ours. Yours respectfully ." This, Mr Editor, should make serious thought for many of your readers.—l am, etc.,
