LONDON, April 16, 12.15 p.m. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We captured Villeret during the night southeastwards of Hargicourt, and progressed north-eastwards of Lens. Full particulars of the booty captured at Lievin and Souchez river are not available, but it is exceedingly large, including a six-inch naval gun and thousands of rounds of ammunition of all calibres and transport material. The Bavarian losses in the recent fighting were most heavy, one third of the total prisoners taken being Bavarians.
