German official: On the north bank of the Scarpe, north-east of Croiselles, our thrust drove back the enemy to Lagincourt. To the sanguinary losses suffered by the Australians must be added 475 prisoners, 15 machine guns, and 22 other guns. French attacks near Vauxaillon and Chivies failed. There is intense artillery fire between Soissons and Rheims , where infantry fighting has developed on wide sectors. French sto'" ' ttempts on the Lorraine Plai;; ar.d at Burgundv Gate failed. Between Soissons and Verdun the enemy lost eleven aeroplanes yesterday.
