LONDON, AprU 16. A French communique states that we continued a destructive fire on the German organisation between St. Quentin and t the Oise. The enemv made a lively'reply. In the region south of St. Quentin we continued our progress eastward and south of the Oise. On the plateau between Bariers and Quinchy-Bassee we captured a fresh enemy point d'appui. -An itrtillery duel was violent all night on the whole front, including Soissons, on which front, after a violent artillery preparation, our detachments ]>cne rated the enemy lines at several points.
In Lorraine and Alsace our detachments reached the enemy's second line at six points. In the plain of Alsace we inflicted serious losses.
