RECENT COAL CRISIS

CONDITIONS STILL ABNORMAL. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Assn.) SYDNEY, Dee. 1. Although the greatest- satisfaction is expressed that the coal dispute has been settled, several days must elapse before conditions are normal. The restrictions on light and power are being lifted gradually. Factories will be permitted to resume on Monday. The Navy Department is acting cautiously, and no relaxation of the restrictions is expected until the 7th inst., when the proclamation will expire. Shipping requirements will be met after the transports and public utilities are supplied. The tribunal, which is sitting in camera, has advanced a further stage. It is anticipated that the new conditions will increase the. price of coal by from 2s to 3s. a ton. ADMIRALTY'S URGENT NEEDS. (United Press Association.) Reeeived December 2, 10.25 a.m. MELBOURNE, Dec. 2. It has been announced that the Navy Department and the Government urgently needed so many thousand tons of coal that it will be fully the middle of January before sufficient is available to enable industry to revert to normal.
