THREATENED ROUMANIAN.
GERMANY'S OBJECT. AN APPEAL TO THE ALLIES. (The Times.) Received October 13, 9.50 a.m. LONDON, October 12. In the Roumanian Parliament, M. Basilcsoo said lie he-lived that the following are the motives of the Central Powers:— "To crush Roumania, as such a victory would mean the consolidation of the German mastery from the North Sea to the Persian Gulf. "The invasion of Russia from the south via Bessarabia. j "Control of the Black Sea, with perhaps a decisive victory in the east. "Also securing the vast Roumanian stores of corn, petroleum, benzine, mineral oils, salt, timber and other goods, together with control of the railways, and the transport system of the Danube.'' He exhorted the Allies to do their utmost to protect Roumania. thereby shortening the war. saving millions of lives, and hundreds of millions of monev.
