PARIS, Sept. 22. A gold scare prevails owing to tbe bants refusing to pay more than 16 per cent in gold. Some private banks are allowing three francs per 1000 for gold payments, which are sent to Germany. The increase in the' bank; rate is partially due to the increase in tbe circulation of paper money, which has almost reached the legal limit.

An aviator named Castellanne was killed by a fall from his aeroplane at Elmira. Hi* wife witnessed the accident.

A military aviator named Millar was burned to death at Dayton (Ohio). The aeroplane tain 1 * exploded, and the machine collapsed. Millar was unable to free himself from the wreckage.
