Mr John Redmond, in an article in Reynold's Newspaper, declares that the almost universal distrust of the administration, of justice in Ireland is the greatest argument in favor of Home Rule. The distrust springs largely from laws being foreign-made by, a foreign Parliament. Many of the criminal laws are tyrannical and offensive and would, never be tolerated in England. Under its own government Ireland would 'become tbe most law-abiding country in the world. Sir A. Conam Doyle, greatly influenced by the success of the South African Union, announces bis conversion to Irish Home Rule. MONSTER PROCESSION. LORDS IN REVENGE. LONDON, Sept. 24. At; an anti-Home Rule demonstra j ti'on at Belfast a hundred thousand marched in procession and twenty thousand arrived by special train from all parts of Ulster. Tbe Earl of Erne presided and a resolution pledging support of Sir Edward Carson in whatever action he might take, and whatever dangier was toj bo faced in 'Connection with Home- Rule was passed. Sir Edward Carson said tbe first duty was to insure that under no circumstances could any Home Rule Bill be made effective as far as Unionist Ulster was concerned. He added that they must be prer pared, should any emergency occur, to be accountable to the administration for thosei districts they wtere entitled to control .(cheers). ... Lord Ranfurly was present and Lord Hugh Cecil telegraphed that they must defend the Union as their ancestors defended Londonderry.
