The locomotive men on the Midland railway in Ireland refused to obey the Amalgamated executive, and will only strike if their own Union orders *t. Th re is much dissatisfaction because the Amalgamated Society's general strike does not apply to the Unit-d KingdomOne hundred police pensioners have been sworn in. as special constables at Dublin. One hundivd goods men on the Great Northern , a t Belfast struck and also thirty of the same company's staff at Dublin. Mr Williams, secretary of the Amalgamated. Society, states that the t?ener a l strike only applies to Ireland. At present the executive: has exempted the Dublin and South Eastern railway from the general strike. Eastown is completely cut off from London and Dublin, and 200 overseas passengers are unable to proceed. Traders and merchants in Dublin bitterly complain of the Dublin Castle authorities' indifference. The dispute at Dowlaid has bin settled on a basis of recognition o! the Union, and increased wages.
