THE NEW TRAFFIC BRIDGE
At a special meeting of the liuntly Town i Bciaird held on Thursday night, it was decided to advise the Hon. R., iVlcKenzie that thei first pile of the new bridge would be' ready tor driving' early in October and to ask him to name a date as near the 11th prox. that would enable him to perform the. intial ceremony. It was also resolved to call for Monday night a meeting of residents to decide upon the manner in which the occasion should be celebrated. HUNTLY. RECREATION CLUB.
The annual general meeting of the members of the Huntly Recreation Club was held in the Library on Wednesday night, the Rev. A. J. Beck presiding over a good attendance.
The treasurer's balance-sheet showing a credit in hand' of some £l2 against which were certain liabilities was apploved.
Office bearers for the ensuing year were elected as follows '.—Patron, Miss Ralph ; hon. presidents, Messrs H. J. Greenslade M.P., E. V. Ralph, W. J. Ralph, L. B. Harris, senr., L. B. Harris, junr., P. R. ColebrooK and J. P. Bailey ; president, Rev. A. J. Beck ; vice-president Mr C. Bailey ; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Swain ; selector, Mr S. Gleeson ; auditor, Mr J. Burgess ; management committee, Messrs C. Gleeson, G. Mercer, E. A. Jones, J. Burgess, W. J. Ralph, junr., F. W. Garland, S. Gleeson ; ladies' committee, Meedames Beck, L'ittleproud, Swain, Misses Eddy, Evans, Herd and Millington. The President was appointed to represent the l club at a meeting to he held in Hamilton re the proposed formation of a South Auckland Tennis Association.
