STILL FIZZING.
THE ETNA ERUPTION. (Per Press Association.—Copyright.) ROME, Sept. 13. The present eruption of Mt. Etna is a grander spectacle than was the great outburst last year. Sixteen craters are belching fire and smoke, while from the two lowest lav a is flowing The streams of molten material are flowing down the slopes of the mountain at the rate of 400 yards in an hour, ravaging vineyards and destroying cottages in their track. They also set fire to the pine forests, which are burning fiercely. Incessant earthquakes, accompanied by noises like the explosion of bomb 3 are being experienced, and the inhabitants have become panic-stricken. They are now seeking safety on the plains. EARTHQUAKES IN EUROPE. (Received Sept. 15, 11.20 a.m.). ROME, Sept. 14. Earthquakes are reported from Florence, Vienna, amd elsewhere. The lava from Etna destroyed the fertile district called Imboxbiimento. SEVEN CRATERS ACTIVE. ADVANCING DOOM. LAVA STREAM DESCENDING. ROCKS HURLED DOWN. TREMENDOUS DAMAGE WROUGHT, (Received Pept. 15, 5.30 a.m.) 6 ROME, Sept. 14. Seven craters are in eruption. The central crater is hurling with fury, rocks weighing many ions. Lava is advancing at a hundred and twenty meters an hour in a stream five hundred meters broad. The railway is flooded and impassable and a number of villas have been destroyed. The rain of. nshes continues at Catania, and it is estimated that damage amounts to £250,000. • Crowds of EngLish and American tourists are ascending Etna.
