I he Secretary of the General Post Office has just completed a table showing the business done by y the Post and Telegraph Departments* for the four days, December 2(Jj®2l, "22 and 21. The postal figures, which include parcels, etc., sent and delivered for the four centres, a/e as follows : ' 1905 Auckland 401,588 J^97 Wellington 655,328 618,870 Chcistchurch ... 51)5,538 615,033 JJuaedin ... ... 632,039 483,885 The telegraph figures are as follows:—

Auckland 32,202 37,944 Wellington 43,157 59,919 Chriatehuroh ... 29,219 34,490 Dunedin 25.085 28,197 For the Wellington district, the following are the figures, last (year's totals being given in parenthftes ; Bags and hampers, received 243'J, forwarded 2979 (2500 and 2929) ; letteis, postcards, etc., forwarded 204,i1l 7, received 17<>,2-">4 (248,7-34 and ltirfjHoiiJ; newspapers, sent and ' received, pavot'i, i. forwarded I'tidj, received JK/T? 1 (140U and 207U); telegrams, v I (1,7*7, received IV-2 (13,540 and 1 1.1 s. >), telegrams transmitted, 21. 11" (2tl,42i'>). In each case an all-round increase is noticeable.
