SERIOUS MOTOR ACCIDENT.
MELBOURNE, December 25
A motoi car disaster occurred yesterday near Helensville. The car, which was crowded with passengers, got out of control of the driver at a treacherous spot, and to avoid running down a steep hill, he turned the machine into a bank before it had attained a very great speed.' In the collision with the bank, Miss Godley and a Mr Pemberton, an engaged couple, were thrown out an<J th? wheels passed over both. Miss Godley was dreadfully injured, and both the legs of Mr Pemberton were injured. Ihe injured passengers remained on the roadside for four and a-halt hours before medical aid reached them. Miss Godley has since died.
