WAIKATO MATTERS.

Mr H. J. Greenslade, M.H.Bh hM re* oeived the following communication from Sir Joseph Ward:--" 1 have the honour to reply to the memorial of the Bth October last which you forwarded from settlers of the Eureka district urging that the frequency of the mail service to that place be increased from thrice weekly to daily. In reply I have to express regret that, after giving the matter full consideration, I am unable to see my way to grant the dfiired daily mail, as the increased expenditure which would be involved would not be warranted by the revenue received."
