THE LONDON MARKETS
By I lie courtesy of Messrs J. B. MaeEwan and Co., Aueklaud, we are enabled to publish the following report from Messrs Andrew Clement and Sons on the Loudon produce market, dated October 2dth. BCTTEK. General.—Trade all round has been exceedingly quiet, and much lower prices have been taken for butter from all parts. Argentine.—There are fair quantitits on the way the Thames due at Southampton to morrow, bringing 1801 boxes; but up to the present very little has been on the market. We expect early arrivals to realise from 112s to 116s. Australian. The quantity of salted coming is too small to interest buyers there is not sufficient to allow them all a share and they will not go off one butter and on to another until they are sure they can obtain requirements weekly. The only arrival this week is the '' Oroya," with 7313 packages, for the corresponding week last year there were 17,310. Further shipments are advised as having left this week, viz :—" Orient" 21,000, " WakfO " 18,000 making a totkl quantity of 13'1,000. Victorian, —Salted and unsalted il-ls and 11G J , up to US*, for finest. New South Wales, aud Queensland are offering at a shade lower prices, in some cases following very closely on the Victorian prices. New Zealand.—We have no arrival to report, but have been advised that the '• Tongariro ;; left yesterday with 22,000 boxes butter and 2,200 crates cheese. This increases the total of butter afloat from New Zealand to 40,000 packages. Canadian.—Supplies are falling off; only one shipment, the " Devona" with 3 j72 packages having artived this week. This compares with 'J,7" J for j week ending 26th October 1000. There ia a quiet trade with a slight . easing of price,
