♦ Fuom Ouit Own Cohukspondent. Ou Saturday last tho Gordon cricketers proceeded to Waihou and defeated the local team by l.'i runs 011 the first innings. The Montague Brothers performed well with both bat and ball tor the visitors, and Messrs Lewis and Rainson were the most successful players for the local team. On Monday last the llurigahunga Drainage scheme reached i's final st'igo of success, when at tho Drainage Katepayecs' poll, at Waharoa and Aratiatia, it was decided by ,VS to 1 to borrow .£3OOO to ooustruct the main drain. A U jvemment subsidy of X2.UHJ added to this will enable tho Board to spend 4)5,000 for this most imp rtaut purpose. The thanks of the community, in general, are due to Mr 11. J. Greenslade, M.H.R., for his successful efforts in regard to this matter.
It is understood that Sir John Gcrst intends visiting the native settlement at Waharoa »t an early date; and that the Government intends to appoint Dr. Eudlitz berger, of Matamata, as health officer and medical attendant to the Maoris in and around this locality.
