AN IMPERIAL SCHEME. LACK OF FUNDS. LONDON, November l'J. Six' H. Campbell-Bannerman ami l Mr Asquith informed a deputation of Liberal and Labour commoners that the Government regarded the old age pensions question as of the most extreme urgency and favoured universal plans, altogether dissociated from the poor law. It opposed contributing schemes which involved inquisitorial machinery. LONDON, November 21. Sir Henry Campbell-Bannerman intimated that limits of time and money alone prevented early legislation regarding old age pensions.
