STATUARY FOR THE. COLONY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 20. The attendance at the exhibition to date numbers •2-38,809. At the instance of the Premier, the Government purchased for £2204) the famous collection of thirteen pieces of statuary, executed in Rome by Mr F. C. Summer, the well-known Melbourne sculptor, and representing the labour of some fourteen years. The collection is now being arranged in the grand hall of the exhibition, but its final disposal remains to be decided. To avoid the possibility of Provincial jealousy t it is more than probable that the work will find a permanent resting place in the Parliamentary buildings at Wellington.
