AN UNSUCCESSFUL SEARCH. (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. U. The tug Champion which left Lyttelton on October 20th to search for the abandoned steamer Port Stephens returned yesterday. The tog encountered dirty weather and very heavy seas during practically the whole fifteen days. She went as far as 40 degrees 44 minutes south, and 176 degrees 40 minutes east on a zig-zag course the whole time, but saw no sign of the Port Stephens nor any other vessel during the cruise. Instructions have been received to abandon further search, and the Champion leaves foi Newcastle today*
