CAMBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

♦ The Cambridge District High School Committee met on Tuesday last, there being present: -Messrs A. Wilkinson, (ohairman), A. J. Ueuth. i. O'Toola, J. Christie, C. li. Treadgold, J. Carr, E. J. Wilkinson aud F. J. Sanders. The treasurer of the Manual and Technical fund reported that he had receivtd practically XUO, with another XlO still to oome in. It was decided to write to Mr Geo. George, Director of Technical Education, at Auckland, stating that the money was now available, and asking him to do all possible to facilitate the work of having the school ereoted. There were 90 contributors to the fund. The chairman submitted the quarterly statement of accounts, which showed a credit balance of £24 16s fid. The following accounts were passed for payment: -Geo. Hill X2 10s 91, B. J. Wilkinson £2 l4s sd, W. G. Care 2s 6d, Potts and Hardy XI 7s 6d. Complaint* .were made that horses belonging to scholars attending the sohool were creating a nuisance in the Farmers' Club yards.—lt was decided to take steps to procure a paddock adjoining the school grounds. The chairman's action in endorsing the appointment of Miss Mctil wain as an assistant teacher was approved. It was unofficially reported that one of the teachers had been administering unduly harsh oorporal punishment, and the chairman was deputed to confer with the headmaster regarding it.
