THE HOUSE OF LORDS' ATTITUDE. LONDON, November o. The Archbishop of Canterbury iii a letter to Canon Solland, explains that the House of Lords frankly accepted the principle of popular control of schools, and only ensured every child attending an elementary school an opportunity of obtaining religious teaching of some sort if the parent desired it, and subject to the conscience clause.
