Pickerill said the decrease iu whites on the Hand from April to September : was a thousand, and the increase of I Chinese :j,o'JB A number of whites on 1 the Rami were unemployed. There was abundant evidence that the population was becoming alive to the significance of the facts, and would shortly be able to express their views in a representative assembly. Mr Churchill declared he wss unable to inform Mr J. B. Markham without notice regarding the increase of Kaffirs on the Rand, or whether ', any Chinese were doing skilled whites' work.
