PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.

OPENING SERVICES IN HAMILTON. The work of the past eighteen months reached its fitting consummation last night at the opening services connected with ft. Paul's Primitive Methodist Church, liamiit'ißfwheii "r Richard Herbert, in the . najfcMndable absence or Mr C K Bei). ringtr, i'reiideni of tUe declared the building open. A large number of sympathisers were present and after singing of the hymn "Ail bail, the power of Jesus' name," Mr eibert, iu jp'ning the church said it gave him grea. '"-Aaure tto be present, as lie had tuk-.m actlVv iart in the • peu;ng of four cburclies in the c. „, ~ v. bi; M BeVL , ra i M Home, and had taken some part in the building of them. The Balvation ot the pen) la was Ins object and the object of the Church. CJeen from the outside the Church presents a pleasing appear mce, the exterior being constructed in heart of toura. The general design is Gothic, and the portico entrance is approbohed by a short flight of steps, which lead into the vestibule; this latter measuring 12ft x Bft. The intenor of the church gives one an impression of comfort and quiet taste. It measures 31ft x 4oft, it is weil lighted both by windows and incandescent gas light, and the eifcht ventilators in the ceiling willkeep the building cool in the hottest weather. The ■ internal woodwork is polished rimu, which runs as a dado round the walls, and is used in the seating accommodation, whicn provides for 200 worshippers. The church, however, is capable of holding 400 peuple if necessary. Two ingenious features ot the sittings are the hat-rail and book poekols which h.na been introduced by the a.-oaitect. The risk of damage to head gear is thus abolished, and passing in and out of the Beats is made more easy. The walls abovo the dado are washed in French yellow, xad slate-blue and greeu makes ur '-''e ewfling.
