At the adjourned inquiry into the running of the horse Defender in the Hurdle Race at the Avondale Jockey Club's meeting on Saturday last, after hearing further evidence, the stewards expressed dissatisfaction witn the handling of the horse, disqualified the jocky (T. Howard) for a period of six months, and severely cautioned J. Thorp (one of the owners of the hoise) for his conduct in the matter. No others concerned in the ownership of the horse were in any way held blameworthy by the stewards.
