Mr William Fen wick, editor of the Otago Witness, died this morning. The Rev, Father Cahill, of St. Patrick's, who has been appointed parish priest at Ngaruawahia, was teudered a farewell by the children on Saturday night, and presented with a travelling bag. '1 he parishioners of St. Patrick's will make him a presentation on Fridiy next. The chief Government Veterinarian (Mr J. A. Gilruth) has been appointed Principal Veterinary Officer of the New Zealand Volunteer Veterinary Corp.', with the rank of Honorary Leut.-Colonel. Mr Henry Black McNab, late manager of the Bank of New Zealand in London, and formerly secretary of the bank at Auckland, passed away at his residence, Blairgorm, Western Road, East Finchley, England, on August 9th, at the age of
